The Details

What’s included?

In 2016-2017, we are offering five continuing education workshops. These full-day workshops are designed for teachers and staff members who have completed the Pre-Kindergarten Year 1 Core Curriculum training. Each session in the series offers participants a chance to learn about a unique aspect of the Tools of the Mind curriculum in greater depth and detail.

Beyond the Core: Supporting Purposeful & Powerful Play

Today, early childhood educators are often asked to explain the value of providing children with time for play in their classrooms. This workshop will explore how make-believe play is a not only a vehicle for the development of Self-regulation and Social Skill development in children, but also serves as powerful way to achieve positive academic outcomes. In addition to learning about successful techniques to support play development and sharing new ideas for how to create an inviting, engaging and creative environment for play, this workshop provides participants with dedicated time to create new props for upcoming play themes. Bring a bag! You will need something to carry home all of your creations!

Who can register?

These continuing education workshops are designed for teachers, paraprofessionals and related support staff who have completed the Pre-Kindergarten Year 1 Core Curriculum training with Tools of the Mind – Year 2 implementers and beyond!
